“OUTSIDE / IN” A New Contemporary Dance Performance @ The Vine Theater July 7th at 5pm & 7pm & July 8th at 2pm Part of the Summer Dance Series produced by Mojalet Dance Collective Tickets: $15 General, $10 Senior/Student @ www.Mojalet.com The PGK Dance Project is known for its creative, innovative, sculpted choreography and inventive use of space. This new program continues to play with where and how dance happens and what inspires and motivates creative, entertaining performances that frame dance in unexpected ways. WHAT: The premier of “WAX” (working title) featuring the women of PGK in a highly athletic, frenetic work that crisscrosses physical and metaphoric boundaries: Woman as warrior, powerful, unyielding, contemptuously playful. The Men of PGK in “Tabla” which exploits the masculine sleek dynamic of the male dancer. This work was originally developed on the men of ODC/Dance San Francisco April 2011. “A Song for You”, the recently premiered solo work danced by Viviana Alcazar, choreographed and sung live by vocalist Peter G. Kalivas Mr. Kalivas will also premier “Outside / In” to be created in collaboration with the 15 dancers of The PGK Dance Project SUMMER INTENSIVE happening July 2-6th. This new work will promote movement and partnering invention and experiment with What is OUT, what is IN physically, literally and in the abstract and how that applies to the boundaries of The Vine Theater itself. Dancers are currently coming from across the US, the Caribbean, locally and regionally to engage in the week long intensive which includes a technique class, engaging in the professional creative process and a composition class daily. The Program will be rounded out by works presented by several PGK company members for the company with specific details soon to be announced.
